What Randy had to say about the project
Another fabulous promo video we put together for Tactus. This time around, it was much more of a concept video, using a series of still images rendered from 3D models, and then as the concepts got more and more forward-looking, turned into pencil sketches. All of these stills needed to be animated in a manner that showcased the tactile surface technology, wasn’t repetitive, and that built in energy over time up to something of a climax.

I had recently made the move from Apple Motion to After Effects, and this was the opportunity to really make some concrete progress in proving what I can provide clients. The scene that opens the piece, as well as the final logo animation was rendered in After Effects using Video Copilot’s excellent Element 3D plugin, along with the title bridges between the different concept categories. But the icing on the cake was the amazing voiceover provided by Räven Green. The richness of his voice is made for greatness, and I hope to hear his voice more often in all manner of film projects!
