Promo: Tactus for CES 2013

An all-new short promo for Tactus Technology, meant to introduce the technology in a more concrete product prototype form, just in time for their debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2013. Produced by VOM Productions in association with San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking. Full discussion after the jump.

This was another quick turnaround project for VOM Productions (about a week from the phone call to the finished piece). Photography by Jeremiah Birnbaum. Editing by Randy Hall. Original music by Jacob Montague.

What Randy had to say about the project
It was really great to work with SFSDF and Jeremiah again on this project. The folks at Tactus just keep impressing and having their technology embedded in an actual tablet made a huge splash at CES, getting picked up by CNN and C|Net as well as other media outlets. Being able to effectively grab the audience’s eyeballs and communicate the excitement that tactile touchscreens represent to the mobile device market is a key capability for us at VOM Productions. We look forward to tracking the continued success of Tactus and the opportunity to grab more eyeballs with their amazing technology!

As for producing, the turnaround on this was next-to-impossible (less than a week from the phone call to the finished piece), but with the solid working relationship between VOM and SFSDF, we were able to quickly iterate through the rough cut to something that made everyone happy and excited to present to the public! We spent a good deal of time with speeding and slowing the b-roll to get the timing just right. The result is something we’re excited to have produced!
