A short promo video for Tactus Technology to introduce their tactile touchscreen technology to the public. Produced by VOM Productions in association with San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking. Full discussion after the jump.

This was a very quick turnaround project for VOM Productions (less than two weeks from production to finished piece. Photography by Wusi Liu, Navjyot Bandiwadekar, Laura Kay Rudat, Dexter Marsh-Taylor, Cameron Lockwood and Jeremiah Birnbaum. Interview Sound by Maria Escala Ribas. Interview lighting by Navjyot Bandiwadekar. Editing by Randy Hall and Jeremiah Birnbaum. Motion graphics and voice over by Randy Hall and VOM Productions. Original music by Jacob Montague. Product shots were done with a combination of Canon 5D Mk II and Lensbaby lenses. Interview shot with Sony EX-1 and Canon 60D with 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 as a “B” camera. B-roll also shot with the Canon 60D.

What Randy had to say about the project
We were fortunate to partner with SFSDF and Fog City Pictures in producing this video in record time! We had two crews working simultaneously to capture product shots, B-roll and interview. The product itself is amazing, and seeing their facility was truly impressive.

The opening and closing product shots were sped up and slowed down to match the beat of the music. The opening product spin was smoothed out using motion tracking, a maddening exercise. Much better to use motion control when filming!

The only disappointment was that some of the best and most compelling shots we got in B-roll weren’t able to be used because of NDA restrictions!
